On May 25 at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” was held the second of three consecutive lectures, organized by Junior Achievement Bulgaria and WWF Bulgaria, dedicated to topics related to climate change and the fair energy transition.

The lectures are part of the Panda Labs Junior project, which aims to contribute to a fair transition and timely development of knowledge and entrepreneurial capacity among young people in the coal regions of Bulgaria, Northern Macedonia, Serbia and Montenegro. The project raises awareness on the topics of renewable energy, energy efficiency, the circular economy and climate change mitigation and adaptation solutions.

Mariana Yaneva, Director of Policies and Communications at the Association for Production, Storage and Trade of Electricity (APSTE) and Dr. Vihren Mitev, Expert Program Circular Economy and Green Entrepreneurship, Junior Achievement Bulgaria, spoke about the history of energy transitions, fossil fuels, production of energy from renewable sources, energy storage, the need for decarbonization and existing plans for financing the energy transition in Europe and Bulgaria.

For all participants in the lectures there are additional opportunities for performances and prizes – they will receive an invitation to participate in an innovative hackathon, which will take place on June 18 and 19 in Sofia. The best performing students in the hackathon will have the opportunity to join the regional network with other participants, as well as in the upcoming international meetings of project partners.
