A series of online seminars on energy security, organized by the Diplomatic Institute under the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria together with the Georgian Institute for Diplomatic Training and Research "Levan Mikeladze" as part of a project implemented under the Bulgarian official development assistance, ended on 11 November. Diplomatic officials and representatives of the state administration, business, the non-governmental sector and the student community from Georgia took part.

Keynote speakers during the webinars were Mr. Slavcho Neykov, Chairman of the Management Board of the Energy Management Institute, and Assoc. Prof. Atanas Georgiev, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (FEBA) at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski” and director of the master's program “Energy Markets and Services”. Speakers on behalf of the Institute were the experts Assoc. Prof. Valentin Katrandjiev and Dimitar Ivanov.

The presented topics touched upon the role of energy diplomacy in ensuring energy security and the main formats of cooperation in the field of energy at national, regional and global levels. In this context, emphasis was placed on the EU's energy policy towards its immediate geographical neighborhood, including Georgia. Another important element was the organized online round table for representatives of the business and NGO sector, during which the challenges facing the Bulgarian and Georgian energy sectors related to the implementation of European legislation and regulations in the energy sector, steps to decarbonise the sector and the need for an increasingly active dialogue between all stakeholders.

The opening of the online seminars was attended by the directors of the two institutes - Ms. Tanya Mihaylova and Ms. Tinatin Bregvadze, as well as the Bulgarian Ambassador to Tbilisi, Ms. Desislava Ivanova, and the Georgian Ambassador to Sofia, HE Tamara Liluashvili.
