The Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (FEBA), Assoc. Prof. Atanas Georgiev, is included in the newly established Advisory Council of the Bulgarian Council of Ministers in connection with the European Green Deal. The collective body was formed by a Decree of the Council of Ministers on April 30 and will have the task of assisting the Council of Ministers in reconciling national priorities in the fields of energy security, economic development, social justice and environmental protection and will be an advisory body to the government for all aspects of the Green Deal.

The Chairman of the Council is the Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev, and his Deputy is the Minister of Energy Temenujka Petkova. The Advisory Board includes representatives of the President, the Ministers of Environment and Water, Finance, Economy, Regional Development and Public Works, Labor and Social Policy, Education and Science, Transport, Information Technology and Communications and the Minister of Agriculture, food and forests.

 

In addition, the Council includes Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Energy, one representative of the parliamentary political parties, one representative of the nationally representative organizations of employers and employees, the chairmen of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the National Statistical Institute, representatives of the academic community and a representative of the National Association of Municipalities in the Republic of Bulgaria.

 

The green deal is a complete concept and represents the new vision for the future of Europe. The strategy was announced by the European Commission on 11 December 2019. The main goal of the draft new EU development strategy is to make Europe the first climate-neutral continent by 2050.
