Assist. Prof. Iva Pushkarova, PhD will be a guest lecturer, invited by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Savina Mihailova-Goleminova, within the lecture course in the discipline "Corporate and Financial Law" of the bachelor's program "Accounting, Finance and Digital Applications" (in English).

The lecture will be held on 7 December 2021 from 10 am to 2 pm remotely (via Microsoft Teams) using the link.

  • Computer crimes, etc.;
  • Criminal proceedings.

 

Assist. Prof. Iva Pushkarova is an academic teacher in criminal law in the Faculty of Law, Sofia University, the Academy of the Ministry of Interior and the Sofia Technical University, and also a professor at the National Institute of Justice. She is an author of more than 150 studies, articles, and books in the fields of organised crime, human trafficking, cross-border crime, financial and economic crime, corruption, discrimination and hate crime, gender-based crime, prostitution and criminal exploitation, juvenile crime and crimes against children, juvenile justice system, extreme crime, system of penalties, life imprisonment, pardons, issues of Judiciary.

Her monographic books ‘Forms of Organised Crime under the Bulgarian Criminal Code’ (2011), Human Trafficking’ (2012), ‘Pardon in Bulgarian Criminal Law and the Practice of the Head of State’ (2020) and ‘The Criminal Response against Exceptionally Grave Criminality’ (2021) have become the first complete legal studies on these issues in Bulgaria. Pushkarova is the main author of the Policy Paper for State Criminal Policy and Policy Paper for Juvenile Justice State Policy and member of the Ministry of Justice Working Committee which drafted the Draft Criminal Code. During 2012-2017 Pushkarova was Head of the Pardons Committee with the President of the Republic of Bulgaria where she developed legal standards qualified as ‘best practice’ by the European Court of Human Rights. Pushkarova has been awarded the ‘Young Scientist Award’ of the Sofia University in 2012. She speaks fluent English and Russian.
