GATE Centre of Excellence “Big Data for Smart Society” is a research institute, established in 2019 in Sofia, Bulgaria as a joint initiative between Sofia University Bulgaria, Chalmers University of Technology (Chalmers) and Chalmers Industrial Technology (CIT), Sweden.

GATE mission is to:

With respect to its intensive development, GATE CoE is looking for Innovation manager to coordinate the GATE innovation initiatives and business projects.

 

Innovation manager

 

Position’s responsibilities:

  • Collaborativelly with the management of the GATE Institute develops the innovation strategy and policies.
  • Prepares and manages programs and projects for innovation strategy implementation.
  • Coordinates and supports a portfolio of innovative initiatives and business models related processes and KPIs.
  • Manages the development, implementation and continuous optimization of the innovation management system and innovation processes in the organization.
  • Conducts quarterly reviews of innovation initiatives and projects with GATE management and stakeholders to discuss progress and results, re-prioritize and implement changes.
  • Coordinates activities related to the development and maintenance of innovative methods and tools and management of intellectual assets and rights.
  • Advises managers and employees on innovative methods and tools and intellectual assets and rights.
  • Organizes seminars and trainings on selected innovation topics and policies and procedures for intellectual property management.
  • Identifies potential inventions and intellectual assets and develops internal expertise in the management of intellectual property rights.
  • Works with research and innovation teams in brainstorming, generating ideas and ongoing review to identify intellectual assets and related conflicts and opportunities.
  • Manages the interaction with external agencies regarding adequate strategies and policies for the protection of the intellectual rights of the organization.
  • Makes recommendations to protect the intellectual property rights of the organization from potential challenges and infringement.

 

Position’s requirements:

  • Master's degree in computer science, information technology or related field.
  • An additional master's degree in business administration and / or certification in the field of management consulting, investment management, innovation and intellectual property rights is a major advantage.
  • Certification for program / project management from internationally recognized institutions and methodologies such as PMI PMP / ACP, PRINCE2 Practitioner is an advantage.
  • At least 7 years of successful experience in preparation, planning, management and implementation of strategic initiatives and innovative projects for digital transformations, new ICT processes, products, and services in cooperation with internal and external partners.
  • Good knowledge of legal framework and experience in managing intellectual assets and rights.
  • Strategic thinking, outstanding leadership qualities and management skills with proven ability to work independently and lead to success strategic initiatives and innovative projects with a high degree of change, uncertainty and risk.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and abilities to build strong working relationships with a variety of stakeholders, internal and external partners.
  • A good communicator with strong skills to motivate, train and develop with diverse groups, including adults and young people,
  • Excellent teamwork, well organized, efficient, flexible, adaptable to change.
  • Excellent skills for written and oral communication, excellent command of spoken and written English.
  • Positive thinking and sustainability in achieving goals and overcoming challenges.
  • Continuous learning and acquisition of new knowledge and skills to improve the effectiveness of personal management and ability to adapt.
  • Sensitivity and confidentiality regarding information, high degree of integrity, honesty and ethical standards.

Recruiting stages:

  1. Evaluation of the documents submitted by the candidates and admission to the procedure of those meeting the requirements set out in the notice. The successful candidates will be informed by 30.01.2023.
  2. An interview with the successful candidates will take place until 10.02.2023.
  3. All interviewed candidates will be informed of the outcome of the competition.
  4. The selected candidates will be appointed on a contract basis.
