On June 13 and 14, 2024, the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration hosted the Eighth edition of the European Workshop on Political Macroeconomics, which took place with the participation of scholars and researchers from Bulgaria, Germany, the United Kingdom, Chile, Switzerland, France, Poland, and Turkey. During the seminar, original research was presented on topics such as income inequality, fiscal and monetary policy in a contemporary context, the economic effects of climate change, migration, and more.
The 8th European Workshop on Political Macroeconomics was opened by Prof. Madlen Danova, Vice-Rector, who, on behalf of the Rector of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary discussions on current economic issues.
The Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration Assoc. Prof. Dr. Atanas Georgiev emphasized the good cooperation with the University of Reading, United Kingdom, and noted that hosting the European Workshop on Political Macroeconomics is yet another successful initiative of the Department of Economics of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration in its over 120-year history. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aleksander Mihailov from the University of Reading, United Kingdom, thanked his colleagues from the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration for creating a conducive atmosphere for knowledge transfer in an international setting.
The academic program of the 8th European Workshop on Political Macroeconomics consisted of several non-parallel sessions with reports, presentations, fruitful and interesting discussions, and the exchange of ideas for potential joint projects.
