Prof. Kim Sawyer from Babson College gave a lecture “From Barriers to Breakthroughs: Turning Setbacks into Success” to the undergraduate students from the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at the Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”.

Prof. Sawyer introduced ten success principles derived from her personal journey. Self-worth and identity, personal ethics, inclusive leadership, and high standards of professionalism were some of the core principles that Prof. Sawyer discussed with the undergraduate students studying Fundamentals of Management and Organizational Behavior.

“Growth occurs outside your comfort zone. Failure builds character. Opportunities arise from unexpected places”, said Prof. Sawyer.

“Nurture and sustain business and networking relationships; the bridges you build today may pave the way for opportunities tomorrow”, commented Prof. Kim Sawyer. The guest lecturer is an adjunct faculty member in the Management Division of Babson College where she teaches an experiential international consulting course. Babson College is a leading entrepreneurship university and in the Top 10 in the USA according to the ranking of “The Wall Street Journal”.

Also, Prof. Sawyer organized a workshop with professors from the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration. The workshop was dedicated to experiential learning and the American professor inspired the young scholars with the success story of this innovative method in Portugal.

Assoc. Prof. Iya Petkova from the "Business Administration" Department and Assoc. Prof. Atanas Georgiev – Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration hosted both the lecture and the workshop. Prof. Kim Sawyer visited Sofia University after the participation of Assoc. Prof. Atanas Georgiev in the LEAP program, organized by the “America for Bulgaria” foundation. During her visit in Bulgaria, Prof. Sawyer also gave a lecture at the University of Food Technologies in Plovdiv.
