The Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (FEBA) at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” and the FEBA Alumni Club were among the official organizers of the launch of the Digital Academic Almanac—an initiative bringing together more than 1100 Bulgarian academics and researchers from leading universities and research institutions around the world to support the development of higher education in Bulgaria. The event took place on 29 June in the Aula Magna of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”.

Among the official guests was Deputy Minister of Education and Science, Academician Nikolay Vitanov. The opening ceremony was also attended by Assoc. Prof. Atanas Georgiev, PhD, Dean of FEBA.

The primary objective of the initiative is to establish a sustainable network for collaboration, enabling the experience, expertise, and international connections of Bulgarian academics working abroad to contribute to the advancement of higher education and scientific research in Bulgaria.

During the forum, representatives of universities, the research community, the business sector, and the Bulgarian academic diaspora discussed opportunities for joint research projects, mentoring programmes, academic exchange, and the development of new partnerships between Bulgarian higher education institutions and their international counterparts.

The Digital Academic Almanac brings together Bulgarian academics and researchers working at universities and research institutions across the globe. According to the organisers from the Together Forward Foundation, more than 210 of its members are affiliated with universities ranked among the world's top 60 in the Global 2000 University Rankings 2026. The foundation also estimates that more than 3000 Bulgarians are currently engaged in teaching and research at leading universities and research organisations worldwide.

The forum featured Prof. Iliyan Mihov, Professor of Economics and former Dean of INSEAD, alongside academics and researchers from universities across Europe, North America, and other regions. Participants shared their experience and vision for strengthening collaboration between the Bulgarian academic community and leading international research and higher education institutions.
