On June 27, 2024, a meeting was held at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration with international human rights experts, including:
- Beata Faracik: Expert in business and human rights, co-founder and president of the board of the Polish Institute for Human Rights and Business. A lawyer with over 20 years of experience in conducting academic research. Regional Advisor for Central and Eastern Europe of the Global Business Initiative for Human Rights (GBI).
- Dr. Olena Uvarova: Head of the International Laboratory of Business and Human Rights at the National University of Law "Yaroslav Mudry" (Kharkov, Ukraine) since 2018. In June 2022, she joined Wageningen University (Netherlands) as a researcher and coordinator of the theme of business and human rights. Since May 2023, Olena has also co-chaired the Global Business and Human Rights Scholars Association (GBHRSA).
- Ron Popper: CEO of the Global Business Initiative for Human Rights (GBI), which brings together more than 20 multinational companies, and a member of several boards, including the Institute for Human Rights and Business (IHRB). He is a regular lecturer in various business and human rights courses at leading institutes and universities in Switzerland, Norway, Italy, Poland, and the United Kingdom.
Mari-Izabel Kuneva, the faculty’s International Relations Officer, and Nina Todorova, Expert in Qualification and Training, presented an overview of the faculty’s activities to the guests. They highlighted the faculty’s undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs, with special emphasis on Bulgarian and international partnerships. The guests were also introduced to activities related to diversity, equity, and inclusion, such as celebrating Ramadan, admitting a student with visual impairments, and initiatives to create a more accessible environment within the faculty. Additionally, Nina Todorova presented the project for the mobile center for visual science, Kaleidoscope.
The guests visited the faculty at the invitation of Olya Peneva, a specialist in business and human rights and part of the teaching team at ESG Academy.
The meeting concluded with outlined points for future joint activities and a promise of new meetings.
