During this week, the Association of Danube Waterworks Operators IAWD and the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" held the first module of the second edition of the joint international certification program in English – Utility Management Training (UMT). The training is organized with the help of the Center for Educational Services at FEBA, and to participate in it the representatives of water and sanitation operators can apply for financial support from the World Bank

The first module of the UMT training is on the topic of "Utility Economics, Finance and Regulation" and its purpose is to present the basics of regulatory economics in the utility business, to provide an insight into the current challenges facing water utilities operators, as well as solutions.

Lecturers in the first module are Assoc. Prof. Dr. Atanas Georgiev, dean of FEBA and Head of the Master's program "Energy Markets and Services", Silvia Dimova – expert in the water supply sector, Dr. Ivaylo Kaschiev – Director of the Water Supply and Sewerage Directorate services at KEVR, Rado Rusev – Manager of the water sector and director of UMT training, as well as other experts. The module's utility partner is Sofia Water AD.

Prof. Atanas Georgiev, the president of IAWD – Filip Veler, the director of the UMT program – Rado Rusev and the general secretary of IAWD - Katerina Schilling participated in the opening of the training.
