An intriguing lecture on "Strategic Development of Family Business" was given by the Rector of UCLAN Cyprus Prof. Panikkos Poutziouris. The scientific forum was held on March 21, 2022 in a hybrid format - in person and online.

Earlier in the day, the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, Department of Research, Innovation and Projects, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Todor Yalamov welcomed Prof. Poutziouris, presented the priorities of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, including the development of international cooperation and building sustainable partnerships with leading research and development institutes. Assoc. Prof. Yalamov also presented some of the national and international projects in which the Faculty of Economics participates, including SCHOLARNET (funded by the National Program "International Scientific Networks"), Univercity and others.

At the beginning of the lecture Ch. Assist. Prof. Dr. Ivan Angelov presented to the audience Prof. Poutziouris, as well as the guests of the international forum, among whom was Mr. Stefan Gugushev, President of the "Association of Family Business - Bulgaria". Prof. Poutziouris focused on various strategies related to the preservation and sustainable development of the family business, presenting examples from world practice.

"Respect-trust-unity-communication-professionalism - this is the recipe for sustainable success", he said.

Prof. Dr. Desislava Yordanova, who is a leading researcher in the field of family business and entrepreneurship, also took part in the scientific debate. She commented on the reasons for the delayed development of the family business in Bulgaria.

The lecture of Prof. Poutziouris took place within the partnership between UCLAN Cyprus and the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski ”, in accordance with the priorities of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration for its establishment as a reference research center in the region in the field of economics and management.
