The Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (FEBA) at Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski has successfully achieved re-accreditation from the Association of MBAs (AMBA) for its MBA programmes – Business Administration: Strategic Management; Business Administration: Human Resource Management; and Business Administration: Management Information Systems – a prestigious international recognition that reaffirms its position among the world’s leading business schools.

With this successful re-accreditation, FEBA maintains its position as the first and only business school in Bulgaria with AMBA-accredited MBA programmes and continues to be part of the elite top 2% of business schools worldwide whose programmes meet the organisation’s rigorous standards.

This achievement is a source of pride not only for the Faculty’s academic community, but also for Sofia University and Bulgarian higher education as a whole. This international recognition demonstrates that world-class MBA education can be successfully developed in Bulgaria, combining a strong academic tradition, contemporary management knowledge, an international perspective, and close engagement with the business community.

During the re-accreditation process, the international panel, comprising senior representatives of business schools from different countries, highlighted several key strengths of FEBA. The panel particularly commended the Faculty’s interdisciplinary partnerships and programmes, which connect business and economics with other fields of knowledge through collaboration with Sofia University’s Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Physics, and Faculty of Geology and Geography. The panel also recognised the Faculty’s consistent commitment to the principles of responsible management, sustainability and inclusion, including initiatives aimed at creating an accessible academic environment, Braille signage, and related innovations in teaching.

The strong institutional support provided by Sofia University’s leadership was also highlighted as an important factor in the Faculty’s success.

“Receiving AMBA re-accreditation is a significant international recognition of the progress FEBA has made since 2023 and of the consistently high quality of our MBA programmes. This achievement reflects the dedication of our academic and professional staff, the engagement of our students and alumni, and the trust of our business partners”, said Assoc. Prof. Dr. Atanas Georgiev, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration.

“As Bulgaria’s first and only business school with AMBA accreditation, we see this achievement as both an international endorsement and a responsibility – to continue developing our programmes, strengthening their connection with business and society, and preparing responsible leaders for an increasingly dynamic environment,” he added.

Andrew Main Wilson, Chief Executive of the Association of MBAs and Business Graduates Association (BGA), also congratulated Sofia University on its successful re-accreditation:

“AMBA re-accreditation is a powerful endorsement of Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski’s commitment to delivering world-class management education. The school has demonstrated clear strengths in academic quality, interdisciplinary collaboration, and responsible management, and we are delighted to continue recognising its MBA programmes among the global standard for postgraduate business education.”

The re-accreditation also provides tangible opportunities for students and alumni of FEBA’s MBA programmes. Current MBA students and recent graduates are invited to join AMBA’s global community of more than 80,000 students and alumni across more than 150 countries, free of charge.

Membership provides access to an international professional network, career development opportunities, specialist content and insights, international events, and opportunities to connect with business leaders and graduates of leading MBA programmes from around the world.
