On February 12, the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (FEBA) of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” and the Center for the Study of Democracy (CSD) organized an online expert focus group on “Economic opportunities and challenges for the development of offshore wind energy in the Bulgarian territorial waters of the Black Sea” with representatives of local government, port and maritime administration, environmentalists, lawyers, business and academia.

The event was supported by the PURPOSE climate laboratory. The results will be used both for an internal research project of the Faculty on the social acceptability of RES technologies and will contribute to the analysis of the CSD, which assesses the technical potential of offshore wind energy in the Bulgarian EEZ. Assist. Prof. Mariya Trifonova from the Department of Industrial Economics and Management, Coordinator of the Energy Markets and Services Master’s Program, is involved in the organization of the focus group and both studies. The results of both studies are expected to be published in late March.
