"Together we can do a lot for our children - as individuals, as families, as companies and as good neighbors," said Dr. Jane Muita today at the opening of the Business as a Partner for Children's Rights pilot summer school, organized by the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of Sofia University (FEBA) and UNICEF in Bulgaria. It involves ten students from Bulgaria, Albania and the Netherlands, studying and / or graduating in law, business administration, social activities, communications, interior design and biotechnology.

Dr. Muita opened the summer school together with the Dean of FEBA Assoc. Prof. Atanas Georgiev. He welcomed the participants and lecturers of the school and reaffirmed the faculty's commitment to developing the partnership with UNICEF, including the holding of a joint academy on children's rights and the role of business from the autumn of 2020.

During the summer school, for three days the young people will learn about the risks and impacts of business activities, operations and relationships on children's rights and will discuss opportunities to engage companies with internationally recognized practices and standards for their protection and development.

  • The program includes three modules:
    Children's rights and business principles, with lecturer: Dr. Georgi Bogdanov, Executive Director of the National Network for Children
  • The UN Global Goals for Sustainable Development and the contribution of business, with lecturer: Dr. Marina Stefanova, UNICEF Business for Results consultant
  • UNICEF and business: Shared partnerships, with lecturer: Dr. Milka Semova, Member of the Board of the Bulgarian Association of CSR Specialists

"Every child has their own potential that can develop, but while they are young, they need the help of others," said Monika Yordanova, a participant in the Summer School.
