On August 12 and 13, Utilities magazine and the Center for Educational Services (CEC) of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (FEBA) at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski ”organized a joint online training on “Exchanges and Electricity Trading ”. More than 15 experts and managers from energy and industrial enterprises took part in the certification course. The course was conducted through the zoom webinar platform.

The training is part of the initiatives related to the master's program "Energy Markets and Services", for which candidates are recruited until September 9, 2020.

Lecturers in the training were:

  • Assoc. Prof. Atanas Georgiev, Editor-in-Chief of Utilities Magazine;
  • Antoni Zhelyazkov, Business Development Expert, Independent Bulgarian Energy Exchange;
  • Georgi Samandov, Director of Energy Markets, Most Energy;
  • Emanuel Manov, Head of Foreign Markets Department, Grand Energy Distribution;
  • Krassimir Zhivachki, Executive Secretary of ATEB;
  • Stefan Margenov, Electricity Trader, Axpo Group.

 

The lectures presented current topics in the field of electricity trade:

  • Development and challenges for the electricity market and quota plants
  • Regional electricity trade
  • Portfolio and trading position management
  • Exchange trading and market coupling
  • Exchange and clearing house rules
  • Futures trading

After each lecture, participants had the opportunity to ask questions and have a discussion on the topics.
