GATE Centre of Excellence “Big Data for Smart Society” is a research institute, established in 2019 in Sofia, Bulgaria as a joint initiative between Sofia University Bulgaria, Chalmers University of Technology (Chalmers) and Chalmers Industrial Technology (CIT), Sweden.

With respect to its intensive development, GATE CoE is looking for Project Portfolio Manager to coordinate the GATE research and innovation project portfolio.

 

Project Portfolio Manager

 

Position’s responsibilities:

  • Coordinates a research and innovation project intake, evaluation, and prioritization.
  • Engages key stakeholders to evaluate proposed and ongoing projects based on strategic alignment, value, risk, effort, and cost.
  • Aligns the project prioritization with the strategic research and innovation strategy and annual plan objectives.
  • Works with key stakeholders and budget managers to assess and track financial impact of all project work.
  • Develops and maintains project governance tools, templates, guidelines, procedures and processes.
  • Directs the creation and maintenance of the required project portfolio documentation and artifacts.
  • Provides formal training and support related to project and portfolio management.
  • Works with project teams to oversee the full range of the project life cycle (initiate, plan, execute, close).
  • Ensure the oversight and coordination of dependencies across the projects in the portfolio, and resolve or escalate conflicts.
  • Supports effective delivery of the largest and most strategically important projects including scope, schedule, cost, risk, resources, and quality.
  • Establishes, maintains, and provides portfolio management reporting using appropriate KPI metrics.
  • Conducts quarterly reviews with senior business and research stakeholders, Project Steering Committee and other relevant bodies to assess and validate the project portfolio, reprioritize and execute changes to meet business and research needs.

 

Position’s requirements:

  • Master’s degree in computer science, information technology or related field.
  • Additional master’s degree in business administration or relevant highly desired and advantageous.
  • PMI PMP/ACP, PRINCE2 Practitioner or other equivalent program/project management certification by internationally recognized methodologies and institutions.
  • At least 7 years of successful experience in preparation, planning, delivery, and implementation of complex ICT programs/projects in classic waterflow and/or agile methodologies.
  • Creative problem-solving skills to analyze and solve complex problems and reporting issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build strong working relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders, including internal and external colleagues, students and external stakeholders.
  • A clear communicator with diverse groups, including adults and young people.
  • A commitment to teamwork, flexible, adaptable to changes, efficient and highly organized.
  • Analytical mind with attention to detail, creative and efficient in analyzing and solving complex business, IT and organizational problems.
  • Ability to work accurately and methodically.
  • Information sensitivity and awareness of confidentiality requirements.
  • Good written and oral communication skills, highly proficient in spoken and written English.
  • Proven planning and organizational skills and an ability to take initiative, ability to deliver to targets, KPIs, meet deadlines, priorities, and work under pressure.
  • Ability to self-evaluate learning needs and actively seek learning opportunities, willingness to learn, to improve personal management effectiveness and ability to adapt.
  • A positive demeanor and approach to responsibilities, persistent in achieving goals and overcoming challenges.
  • Enthusiasm about emerging technology and innovation.
  • Practical with high integrity, honesty and ethical standards.

Recruiting stages:

  1. Evaluation of the documents submitted by the candidates and admission to the procedure of those meeting the requirements set out in the notice. The successful candidates will be informed by 30.01.2023.
  2. An interview with the successful candidates will take place until 10.02.2023.
  3. All interviewed candidates will be informed of the outcome of the competition.
  4. The selected candidates will be appointed on a contract basis.
