Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" hosted the National Student Mathematics Olympiad (NSOM) held May 12-14, 2023, in Montana. It is the most significant mathematical competition for students in Bulgaria and is organized with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science. Students from Sofia University won 6 gold, 9 silver and 9 bronze medals.

The National Student Olympiad in Mathematics is a mathematics competition between students from bachelor's or master's programs, organized annually by the universities in Bulgaria. The goal is to increase students' interest in mathematics and to create conditions for the exchange of experience among the teaching teams.

92 students from 14 universities in the country participated in the competition, divided into three groups - A, B and C, depending on their professional direction. In group B of the economics majors, the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (FEBA) students of Sofia University team performed excellently. The team took second place in the team ranking, and Sofia University was second in the ranking of universities. The students from FEBA won 1 gold and 3 silver medals and 1 bronze medal. Boyana Hristova took the gold medal; silver medals were awarded to Katya Nikolova, Nikolay Naydenov, and Slavena Dudrenova, Ladelaida Lagadova was awarded bronze.

The FEBA’s team was prepared and led by Assoc. Prof. Veselin Gushev, Prof. Geno Nikolov, and Assist. Vaia Rakidzi from the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics of Sofia University.
