Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" published its Sustainability Report for 2022-2023. This is the university's third sustainability report, fulfilling its commitments to the United Nations Global Compact initiative, of which the university has been a member since 2016. The document reviews the institution's performance, goals, achievements, quantitative data, and non-financial information for the period from January 1, 2022, to December 31, 2023.
The university is the first higher education institution in Bulgaria to publish a report accounting for its progress in implementing the UN Sustainable Development Goals and to participate in the prestigious United Nations THE Impact Rankings. The ranking includes 17 questions across 16 areas related to the social sphere, healthcare, education, and the environment, including carbon emissions, ecology, climate, and water. The ranking evaluates universities' achievements in implementing the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Sofia University is ranked in eleven out of the seventeen goals, significantly improving its position despite the increased number of participants.
The report was created with the participation of students from the master's program in "Responsible and Sustainable Governance" at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, under the guidance of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Marina Stefanova, a faculty member and Head of the program.
