The Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration Assoc. Prof. Atanas Georgiev has been invited to present a guest lecture for the master’s and PhD students and faculty at the Sun Yat-sen University, China.

Assoc. Prof. Georgiev presented the topic “Belt and Road Initiative & Bulgaria. Green Energy Opportunities” and participated in an online discussion with the participants in the event. The lecture was hosted by Prof. Mao Yanhua – Dean at the Institute of Regional Openness and Cooperation in the Center of the Belt and Road Research, Sun Yat-sen Univeristy

The lecture started with a short introduction regarding the current trade relations between Bulgaria and China in the context of the “Belt and Road” Initiative. Then Assoc. Prof. Georgiev presented global, European, and national energy-related policies, including the support for renewable energy sources, energy efficiency, energy security, etc. Then, the lecture continued with an overview of the global energy and climate challenges and the road to energy transition. The session ended with focus on market liberalization and the decentralization of the electricity grids, the role of prosumers, microgrids, and energy innovations.
