PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Contents:

Project management methodology has been successfully applied in the public sector management in the developed post-industrial societies over the last 60 years. Its application in Bulgaria started 20 years ago with the reform in the Bulgarian state administration.

This course is intended for first year students as an elective. It gives specialized training and practical knowledge in the field of project management.

The course is based on the leading in the field teaching programmes of the Institute for project management /PMBOK 4-th ed. PMI – Pennsylvania, USA. Texts and examples by authors Kim Heldman /2008/, Cliford Gray, Erik Larson /2007/, Rita Mulcahy /2009/, Sid Kemp /2006/ are used.

The course structure consists of 12 themes: What is a project; Writing the project Charter; Development of the project idea; Creating the structure of the “work packages”; Risk planning; Planning of the project resources; Working out the schedule for project realization and the budget; Team management; Measuring and controlling the project; Monitoring and controlling the changes in the project; Evaluation of the project results and final procedures; Professional ethics in project management.
