On October 27 and 28, Utilities magazine and the Center for Educational Services (CEC) at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” conducted an online training on “Balancing electricity market”. The course was attended by representatives of energy and utility companies, large energy consumers and others.

The training is part of the initiatives related to the master's program "Energy Markets and Services" at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski”.

The lecturers presented current knowledge and practical information about the work of the balancing electricity market in Bulgaria.

 

In particular, the following topics were addressed:

  • What is the role of consumers in the market of balancing services
  • What is the role of hydropowe
  • What is the role of unmanaged RES
  • How will the market change after the introduction of a 15-minute settlement interval

 

Lecturers in the training were:

  • Ventsislav Markov, Head of Regulations, Prices and Economic Analysis Department at the National Electric Company EAD;
  • Miglena Stoilova, President of the Bulgarian Wind Energy Association (BGWEA);
  • Nikolay Gavazki, Head of Forecasting and Balancing Groups Department, CEZ Electro Bulgaria AD;
  • Stefan Sulakov, Head of the Energy Regimes Department at the Central Dispatch Office at the Electricity System Operator (CDU of ESO EAD);
  • Chavdar Doychinov, Head of Strategic Planning, Rhythm-4-TB Ltd.
