On October 6 and 7, Utilities magazine and the Center for Educational Services (CEC) at the Faculty of Economics at Sofia University (FEBA), “St. Kliment Ohridski” conducted a joint online training “Balancing market and electricity trading”. Twenty representatives of the energy sector took part in the training.
The training is part of the initiatives related to the master's program "Energy Markets and Services" at FEBA.
Lectures were held by:
- Ventsislav Topuzov, Managing Partner and Chief Consultant at ROITI;
- Krassimir Zhivachki, Executive Secretary, Association of Electricity Traders in Bulgaria (ATEB);
- Miglena Stoilova, Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board, Bulgarian Wind Energy Association (BGWEA);
- Nikolay Gavazki, Head of Forecasting and Balancing Groups Department, CEZ Electro Bulgaria AD;
- Chavdar Doichinov, Head of Strategic Planning, Rhythm 4 TB;
- Stella Nenova, Policy Senior Specialist, ENTSO-E.
Participants in the online training learned more about the challenges facing the European electricity system in terms of harmonization and integration of rules between regions, as well as how electricity traders include price imbalances and how they manage them.
Among the topics of the lectures were the participation of RES producers in the electricity market, as well as examples from balancing groups on the Bulgarian market.
