Description

The Master’s program in Work and Organizational Psychology is designed to prepare professionals who explore, analyze and manage the human side of the organization, including: Organizational behavior, organizational development and change management, human resources management, organizational consulting, development of effective teams, organizational conflict management, organizational culture, etc.

In the Master’s program students acquire knowledge and develop practical skills for studying and diagnosing of organizational processes, consulting in change management and organizational development, recruitment, motivation, human resources training and development, management of stress, health and safety in the workplace, improvement of leadership competences, emotional intelligence, and crisis and conflict management. The Master’s program completion requires master’s thesis defense. The master’s thesis is a theoretical and empirical research in a scientific field selected by the student, which is implemented under the direction of a supervisor. The defense of the master’s thesis takes place after completion of the fourth semester, in front of a state examination committee.

Professional Qualifications

In the Master’s program students develop competencies necessary for management and development of the human capital in the modern organizations, by developing skills in the fields of recruitment, motivation and training of employees, conflict and crisis management, emotional intelligence and communication competence. Students acquire knowledge, skills and competencies in applied areas significant to the modern organizations such as: Organizational development, organizational change management, human resources management, mentoring and coaching, leadership development, team management and development. The graduates receive the qualification “master” and acquire diagnostics and consulting practice rights.

Professional Realization

The graduates of the Master’s program could pursue a successful and fulfilling career as work and organizational psychologists, organizational consultants, and experts in organizational development and human resources management in national and international organizations. They can work as experts and trainers, organizational consultants, organizational diagnostics and organizational development specialists, HR and recruitment managers, as well as managers in organizations in the public and private sectors.

Terms of admission

The applicants should have earned a bachelor’s degree or a master’s degree after secondary education in accredited higher education institutions in Bulgaria or abroad, with a speciality in the following fields of higher education: Social, economic and legal sciences, pedagogical sciences and humanities.

Applicants who have earned a bachelor’s degree or a master’s degree in another speciality are also welcome, provided that they work under an employment/civil contract as specialists/consultants in the field of human resources, management, training and consulting of organizations. These applicants should submit, along with the other requested documents, a certificate issued by the organization where they work stating their position and length of service.

As an exception, persons who have graduated Psychology abroad can apply for the program when their course of studies is three years (180 credits).

Minimum average grade from the diploma: Good.

The applicants must attend an interview based on a curriculum, which is assessed with “Yes” or “No”.

The ranking, provided that they have received a “Yes” at the interview, is based on the grade from the diploma for the completed bachelor’s degree or master’s degree, formed as the arithmetic mean of the average semestrial grades and the grades from the state final examinations.
