The Kaleidoscope Center for Visual Science at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (FEBA) showed the global risks at COP28. The premiere of the first two Bulgarian popular science "immersive" exhibitions (3D mapping) was given in the pavilion of the Bulgarian delegation at the 28th UN Conference on Climate Change.

“Real climate action must come through science and education. This includes not only high science and the practical application of scientific achievements but also the involvement of people in science. The methods of popularization and attractiveness of the scientific activity are key instruments. In this sense, any modern form such as the Kaleidoscope visual science center through which young people can see scientific trends and achievements is extremely valuable because it involves them in action to tackle climate change", said the Minister of Environment and Water Julian Popov before the premiere.

The discussion "Engaging Approaches to Climate Science Education" was the second international event held at the Bulgarian Pavilion during the 8th Thematic Day "Youth, Education, and Civic Engagement" of the annual UN Climate Change Conference COP28, organized in Dubai in the period 30.11-12.12.2023.

Assoc. Prof. Marina Stefanova, Vice-Dean of "Sustainability, Empowerment and Engagement" at FEBA, presented the first thematic immersive exhibition, created according to the scenario of the students of the Master's program "Responsible and Sustainable Governance" and the researchers in the ESG Lab. She shared with the guests of the event:

"According to the latest report of the World Climate Research Program, crossing the temperature limit of 1.5°C is inevitable unless we witness radical transformations in the next seven years. This means that we will live in extreme climatic conditions for several decades. Climate science is complex, but we see the effects of climate change everywhere in our daily lives. We, as teachers, are responsible for telling about the scientific discoveries in this field to every person; to prepare and provoke human imagination and activity. For us, the Kaleidoscope Visual Science Center is not a tool, but a protected space in which to safely experience the unattainable and imagine the unimaginable. In time, when we share enough scientific facts and stories, I am sure we will inspire and instill confidence in young people to rethink and organize their lives by adding value to both nature and the economy."

The international organization "Climate Fresco", part of the mandatory training tools in the specialized programs of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, and the initiatives of Kinetik Automotive, which produced the first cars for electric karting competitions, were also presented in the discussion.

The discussion was moderated by the representative of UNICEF for Bulgaria, Mrs. Christina de Bruin, who in her summary emphasized that "the study and research of climate change and its manifestations is imperative and must understandably reach every person. This is particularly important for planning timely actions to protect the most vulnerable groups, including children".
