On 14 July 2026, students from the first cohort of the Master's programme "Nuclear Technologies, Management, and Innovations" successfully defended their master's theses in English, marking the completion of the two-year programme.

Aneliya Ilieva defended her master's thesis entitled "Nuclear Reactors, Technical and Economic Efficiency", supervised by Assoc. Prof. Plamen Petkov, PhD. Maya Kostova defended her master's thesis entitled "Crisis Management and Institutional Cooperation in a Nuclear Accident: The Case of Fukushima", supervised by Nikolay Bonov, PhD.

The State Examination Committee consisted of: Chair – Assoc. Prof. Atanas Georgiev, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (FEBA) and Director of the Master's Programme; members – Assoc. Prof. Plamen Petkov, PhD, Programme Director on behalf of the Faculty of Physics; Chief Assist. Prof. Eng. Ivaylo Naydenov, PhD, Programme Coordinator; Prof. George Mengov, PhD, Department of Industrial Economics and Management and Eng. Marina Kadreva, PhD, Head of the Nuclear Energy Security Division within the Energy Security and Crisis Management Directorate at the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Bulgaria, serving as the representative of professional practice.

The Master's programme "Nuclear Technologies, Management, and Innovations" is a joint initiative of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration and the Faculty of Physics at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski". The programme is implemented in accordance with the International Nuclear Management Academy (INMA) model developed by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Programmes accredited under the INMA initiative are designed for current and future managers working in the nuclear energy sector, as well as in non-power nuclear applications. INMA is part of the IAEA Department of Nuclear Energy's activities in the field of nuclear knowledge management.

Graduates of the programme also receive, in addition to their Master's diploma supplement, a certificate issued by the International Atomic Energy Agency, confirming that they have completed a programme accredited under the INMA model.

The English-taught Master's programme "Nuclear Technologies, Management, and Innovations" is open to applicants holding a Bachelor's or Master's degree in any field of study. It is particularly well suited to graduates in economics, management, and engineering disciplines. The programme aims to prepare highly qualified professionals equipped with modern management methods and tools, with a specific focus on the nuclear sector and the organizations operating within it.
