The final and semifinal rounds of one of Europe’s most prestigious student competitions – the European Ethics Bowl (EEB) 2025 – will take place in Sofia. For the first time, the concluding stages of the competition will be held outside the universities that created the initiative. The honor of hosting the event has been entrusted to the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (FEBA) at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”.

The European Ethics Bowl brings together university teams from leading European business schools to discuss real-world cases related to ethics, leadership, and social responsibility. The competition promotes critical thinking, ethical reasoning, and constructive dialogue — qualities at the core of modern education and societal development. Traditionally, it is organized with the institutional support of the European Investment Bank.

The 2025 edition is dedicated to the theme “The Ethics of Truth and Information”, focusing on the challenges of the digital era, the reliability of information, and responsibility in communication.

The event will take place from 21–23 November 2025 and will gather in Sofia more than 60 participants — students, lecturers, and business representatives from Estonia, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Luxembourg, Croatia, France, Germany, Serbia, Romania, and Hungary.

“Hosting the European Ethics Bowl 2025 is a major recognition for Sofia University and for the role of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration within the European academic community. The competition is a valuable platform that connects us with the future leaders of European politics and business — the people who will shape Europe’s pulse in the decades to come. This initiative is part of our partnership with the European Investment Bank Institute, which we have been developing for six years through joint guest lectures and the participation of our master’s students in the EIB Summer School in Luxembourg”, says Assoc. Prof. Dr. Atanas Georgiev, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration.

Hosting the event in Sofia combines academic recognition with the university’s role as an active partner in implementing policies that promote knowledge, responsibility, and ethical culture in Europe.

“The opportunity to host this event is the result of the excellent performance of Bulgarian students in previous editions of the competition. It is proof of the high quality of their preparation, their competitiveness, and their confidence in defending ethical solutions to complex cases on an international stage. We want to provide them with the best possible environment — at a European level — for sharing knowledge and ideas”, adds Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ivan Angelov, Vice-Dean of FEBA responsible for MBA programs and executive education, and the coordinator of the EEB initiative in Bulgaria.

The event is supported by the TWIN4ECO project, the academic community, socially responsible businesses, journalists, and public figures united by the ambition to promote ethical culture and leadership among young people.
