Faculty members from the Department of Finance and Accounting at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” participated in the international scientific conference “International Economic Cooperation and Integration 2024 (CIECI 2024): Green Policies and Practices: Catalyst or Pressure for Trade and Investment”, organized by the University of Economics and Business, Vietnam National University. The event took place on November 22–23 in Hanoi.

Associate Professor Dr. Marcelin Yovogan delivered a keynote speech titled “The impact of the implementation of green finance (ESG) requirements on the financial performance of Fintech companies”. He also participated in a panel discussion addressing the Green Transition and its impact on strategic decisions made by governments and firms.

Professor Dr. Eleonora Stancheva-Todorova presented a paper titled “Implementing sustainability into the accounting curriculum – the use case of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” co-authored with Associate Professor Dr. Iliyana Ankova. She shared the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration's experience in launching the interdisciplinary Master’s program “Accounting and Sustainability”. This program aims to meet business needs by preparing young professionals with expertise in accounting combined with the necessary competencies for reporting corporate sustainability.

Chief Assistant Professor Dr. Nikolay Katsarski delivered a presentation on “Implementing Green Standards in Business: Challenges and Problems”. His report addressed the challenges and issues in implementing green standards, offering a critical analysis of future developments and challenges for accounting information systems concerning the creation of new business models.

Vasya Manolova, a Ph.D. candidate in the department, participated online and presented her paper “IIPOs underpricing and long-term performance: evidence from the Bulgarian stock exchange” co-authored with Associate Professor Dr. Marcelin Yovogan.The conference provided an excellent platform for establishing new contacts with participants from various international universities. Opportunities for collaboration in research and project activities were also discussed.
