On May 13 from 11:00 to 12:30 Iva Mihailova, research associate at the University of St. Galen, Switzerland, will give a guest lecture on "Environmental Taxation".

She graduated with a bachelor's and master's degree in Economics from the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski” and a master's degree in finance and banking at the University of St. Galen, Switzerland. Her dissertation defended in December 2021 at the University of St. Galen, as part of her doctorate in international relations and political economy, focuses on the political economy of deforestation in Africa.
Her research interests are in the fields of political economy, development economics and sustainable development. In her lecture on "Carbon/environmental taxation", she will present the main directions of development of this literature. Another aspect will be a summary of a publication that illustrates well the challenges of environmental taxation of individuals as a tool of public policy. In conclusion, Iva Mihailova will focus on possible aspects that environmental taxation of individuals can integrate in a positive way, taking into account key trends in the search for environmental corporate solutions.
