On January 14th, the guest lecturer in the MA program Energy Markets and Services was Dr. Rumyana Grozeva, Executive Director of the Regional Economic Development Agency (REDA) - Stara Zagora.


Dr. Grozeva presented the role of the energy sector and energy companies for the development of Stara Zagora and the municipalities around the Maritza East complex, as well as the upcoming challenges in connection with the transition to a low-carbon economy.

In the discussion with Assoc. Prof. Atanas Georgiev and the students of the program, Dr. Grozeva answered questions related to the role of coal mines and power plants for the local economy, expectations for changes in the coal regions in transition, as well as initiatives and projects, which have been implemented so far and which are to be implemented in the coming years.
