The Fintech Day on December 5th, organized by the Bulgarian Fintech Association (BFA) and Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (FEBA) at SU “St. Kliment Ohridski”, proved to be a convergence point for students, industry leaders, and esteemed guests, marking a pivotal moment in Bulgaria’s Fintech landscape.

The day encompassed two major events – the Fintech Career Day, connecting students with leading fintech companies, and the Fintech Meet-up, joined by the EU Commissioner for Financial Stability, Financial Services and Capital Markets Union, Mairead McGuinness.

Fintech Career Day: Nurturing Future Talents

The day commenced with the Fintech Career Day, offering a unique platform for students to engage with some of Bulgaria’s fastest-growing fintech companies. Distinguished organizations including Paysafe, MyCFO, Credissimo, Paynetics, Cashwave, and IRIS Solutions took center stage, presenting insightful pitch sessions. Students gained firsthand knowledge about each company’s business operations, organizational culture, and future prospects.

The expo segment that followed allowed attendees to delve deeper into the showcased companies, fostering meaningful interactions with representatives. For students in their 2nd, 3rd, and 4th years at FEBA, this was an invaluable opportunity to explore potential career paths, gain insights into industry dynamics, and establish connections that transcend the classroom.

The Fintech Meet-up 2023 – Fostering Dialogue on Financial Literacy and Open Banking

A highlight of the Fintech Day was the distinguished visit of Commissioner Mairead McGuinness, facilitated by the BFA during the Fintech Meet-up 2023. The meeting served as a forum to discuss critical facets of the fintech sector in Bulgaria, particularly focusing on Financial Literacy and Open Banking.

Throughout the event, Zornitsa Nikolova, Founder of Digamont, shared perspectives on financial literacy and introduced their platform for financial planning. Merdihan Ismailov from IRIS Solutions provided insights into the company’s contributions to the realm of Open Banking.

The dialogue underscored the significance of open communication between the public and private sectors and academia. Commissioner McGuinness’s engagement reflected a commitment to understanding Bulgaria’s role in the burgeoning fintech hubs of Southeast Europe.
