Bulgaria is participating for the second time with its own pavilion at the Conference of the Parties (COP) under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. The 29th edition of the forum (COP29) is taking place from November 11 to 22 in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.
The President of Bulgaria Rumen Radev is leading the Bulgarian delegation at the global climate forum, which once again includes representatives of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski".
Dedicated panels in the program featuring the Faculty representatives focus on mobilizing capital for climate action, industrial decarbonization, the role of women in climate finance, and the role of scientists and universities, as well as their collaboration in combating the climate crisis. Other topics include artificial intelligence in early warning systems.
The events at the pavilion are organized in collaboration with the Office of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Innovation and Growth, the Ministry of Environment and Water, the Ministry of Transport and Communications, the Green Transition Fund, the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS), and Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski".
Bulgaria's first participation in the Conference of the Parties under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change was in Dubai in 2023. Additionally, Bulgaria hosted the 61st session of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) this summer, where the Faculty of Economics and Business Admnistration organized the event's volunteer program.
