The Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Atanas Georgiev, took part in the Fifth International Forum “Dialogues on China 2025”, held on October 15–16 in Belgrade under the motto “Resetting the Global Compass: China and the Shared Future in a Fragmented World”.
The discussions at this year’s forum focused on China’s role in global politics, multilateral cooperation, and economic relations. Opportunities for collaboration with research organizations from the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Serbia were also explored.
Nearly 130 experts and researchers from 34 countries participated in the conference. The event was co-organized by the Institute of International Politics and Economics (IIPE) and the China Institute of International Studies under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China.
Dr. Valentin Katrandzhiev from the Diplomatic Institute also participated in the event, presenting a comparative analysis of the Three Seas Initiative and China’s Cooperation Initiative with Central and Eastern Europe during one of the panel discussions. Bulgaria was represented at the forum by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Teodora Peneva, researcher at the Institute of Economic Studies of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, and by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Atanas Georgiev, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”.
During the event, 15 panel discussions, two inspiring keynote lectures, and one side event were held. The opening ceremony gathered 210 participants, setting a lively and encouraging tone for the discussions that followed.
“Together, we created a space for open dialogue, critical reflection, and exchange of ideas on China’s evolving role in global affairs. Looking ahead, we remain committed to continuing this important dialogue and further strengthening our shared platform for academic, diplomatic, and policy cooperation”, stated the organizers from the Institute of International Politics and Economics in their message to the participants.
