Experienced Data Science Researcher

Research group: Data Analytics

 

The Data Analytics team at GATE creates novel and utilizes existing Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning methods to support the work in our four application domains: Digital Health, Future Cities, Intelligent Government and Smart Industry. To achieve our goals, we work with leading academic institutions in EU, UK and US and we also participate in a broad network of industry partners.

To expand our team, we are looking for experienced Data Scientists that are interested not only in applying existing ML and AI methods to various problems in academia and the industry, but also in developing novel approaches to such problems.

 

Your responsibilities:

  • Researches and analyses the landscape of innovative approaches that could significantly contribute to scientific goals of GATE in the field of advanced data analytics, applied to the four application domains at GATE: Digital Health, Future Cities, Intelligent Government and Smart Industry;
  • Leads or contributes to high-quality scientific publications
  • Prepares presentations to communicate research results at national and international scientific conferences and industry events
  • Performs individual and collaborative research in the area of ML and AI
  • Under the supervision of the Head of Data Analytics, leads the implementation of existing and the design of novel Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence algorithms in the context of GATE projects
  • Develops strong relationships with external key stakeholders;
  • Manages work packages or tasks of GATE projects;
  • Provides mentorship to junior teammates, helping them to be more effective and successful in their research trajectory;
  • Engages in continuous professional development and participates in various events for learning and knowledge exchange.

 

Requirements:

  • PhD Degree in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Informatics or a related field. Alternatively, a Master's Degree in the same areas plus a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in industry or academia;
  • Scientific contributions, through original research that extends the frontier of knowledge by developing a body of work, innovation or application, evidenced by publications in scientific journals;
  • Advanced programming skills in Python using at least several of the standard Data Science tools: scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras, H2O, NumPy, SciPy, Pandas or others;
  • Experience in participating in research projects, involving a wide variety of stakeholders;
  • Demonstrated ability to conceive, design, implement and adapt research programs; and to carry out research under minimal supervision;
  • Good written and oral communication and presentation skills, prioritizing of tasks, motivation to discover new approaches in AI development
  • Fluency in English.

Stages of the contest:

1.The Selection Committee reviews the documents, submitted by the candidates and selects those meeting the requirements of the job, as described in the job profile. The selected candidates will be informed by 6 February 2022.

2.Online interviews will be held with the selected applicants in the period 7 – 18 February 2022.

3.All interviewed candidates will be notified in writing.

4.The successful candidate will be offered a labour contract under the project BG05M2OP001-1.003-0002-C01 „Big Data for Smart Society”.
