The Master’s program in Work and Organizational Psychology is designed to prepare professionals who explore, analyze and manage the human side of the organization, including: Organizational behavior, organizational development and change management, human resources management, organizational consulting, development of effective teams, organizational conflict management, organizational culture, etc.

In the Master’s program students acquire knowledge and develop practical skills for studying and diagnosing of organizational processes, consulting in change management and organizational development, recruitment, motivation, human resources training and development, management of stress, health and safety in the workplace, improvement of leadership competences, emotional intelligence, and crisis and conflict management. The Master’s program completion requires master’s thesis defense. The master’s thesis is a theoretical and empirical research in a scientific field selected by the student, which is implemented under the direction of a supervisor. The defense of the master’s thesis takes place after completion of the second semester, in front of a state examination committee.

Professional Qualifications

In the Master’s program students develop competencies necessary for management and development of the human capital in the modern organizations, by developing skills in the fields of recruitment, motivation and training of employees, conflict and crisis management, emotional intelligence and communication competence. Students acquire knowledge, skills and competencies in applied areas significant to the modern organizations such as: Organizational development, organizational change management, human resources management, mentoring and coaching, leadership development, team management and development. The graduates receive the qualification “master” and acquire diagnostics and consulting practice rights.

Professional Realization

The graduates of the Master’s program could pursue a successful and fulfilling career as work and organizational psychologists, organizational consultants, and experts in organizational development and human resources management in national and international organizations. They can work as experts and trainers, organizational consultants, organizational diagnostics and organizational development specialists, HR and recruitment managers, as well as managers in organizations in the public and private sectors.

Terms of admission

The applicants should have earned a bachelor’s degree or a master’s degree after secondary education in accredited higher education institutions in Bulgaria or abroad, with a speciality in Psychology.

Minimum average grade from the diploma: Good.

The applicants for state-subsidized places must take a written examination based on a curriculum, which is evaluated on a six-point system.

The applicants for the paid form of education must attend an interview based on a curriculum, which is assessed with “Yes” or “No”.

Admission of students to state-subsidized places is based on a score formed by the grade of the competition examination and the grade of the diploma of bachelor’s degree or of master’s degree after secondary school, formed as the arithmetic mean of the average semestrial grades and the grades from the state final examinations.

Under equal other conditions for the state-subsidized places, priority should be given to applicants who have completed a bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski.”

The ranking of the applicants for the paid form of education, provided that they have received a “Yes” at the interview, is based on the grade from the diploma for the completed bachelor’s degree or master’s degree, formed as the arithmetic mean of the average semestrial grades and the grades from the state final examinations.

The applicants who meet the conditions for a state subsidy may participate in the ranking for a paid form of education without additionally attending an interview, provided that they have indicated this when applying and have a positive grade from the written examination, which is equivalent to a “Yes”.
