The European Studies bachelor’s program offers specialized training in the field of European integration. It introduces students to the history of the European Union and places a special focus on the current developments in the fields of Law, Economics and Politics in the European Union as well as on the accession of the South- East European countries to the EU.

Graduates will carry out the administrative reform in the country as it enjoys its full-fledged EU membership as well as work for a successful international dialogue in a globalizing world.

The large number of disciplines in the curriculum and the intensive language training aim to guarantee the attainment of knowledge, skills and competences regarding the political, economic and socio-cultural aspects of united Europe, and, thereby, contribute to the preservation and development of its cultural identity and diversity.

The European Studies graduates acquire knowledge about:

  • The adoption and implementation of the Acquis communautaire.
  • The integration processes in the monetary/financial sector.
  • The political processes in the European democracies and in the European Union.
  • The terminology of the European institutions and the EU legislation in two foreign languages.
  • How to apply the EU legislation in the Bulgarian public administration, business organizations and the third sector.
  • How to use EU funds and implement EU programs at a local level.
  • Bulgaria’s membership obligations and their implementation.
  • Activities and programs designed for the preservation and development of the cultural identity and diversity in a united Europe.

The European Studies graduates are knowledgeable of:

  • Economics, Law, Political Science and Sociology, International relations
  • The European civilization and the European political and cultural history
  • The history of the European integration and the EU institutions
  • The Bulgaria - EU relationship and the process of accession to the EU
  • The common EU policies, the functioning of the European Single Market
  • EU cooperation with organizations like NATO and OSCE
  • Issues related to the future of the European Union

The knowledge and the skills the European Studies graduates have acquired provide career opportunities in the European institutions, other international institutions, the Bulgarian public administration, consultancies, the media, as well as in other political, public and civil society organizations implementing EU programs and funds.
