Since its foundation in 1923 the aim of the course is to prepare critically and creatively thinking high quality teachers, trainers, managers, consultants and researchers for all the areas of formal and non-formal education. As a result of the unique historical development of pedagogical theory and practice in Bulgaria our students have exceptional opportunities to gain in depth fundamental knowledge of the most influential and methodologically different approaches towards education. At the same time they are encouraged to view educational problems in broader interdisciplinary scientific, as well as economic, cultural and political contexts.

The solid theoretical background goes hand in hand with the acquisition of the professional and communicative skills necessary for the implementation or application of current advanced and effective practices.

After the 4th term of the full-time course our students choose between school pedagogy, pedagogical counseling or preventive and corrective pedagogy profiles. Our students can observe and practice by supervision and independently in a large number of different state and private educational settings. Written theoretical exam or BA thesis as well as professional practice exam is a must for their graduation.
