The Burgas branch of Sofia University and the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration are organizing the International Summer School Marine Renewable Energy Academy (MREA) for the third consecutive year. The training will take place from September 1st to September 5th, 2025, at the Congress Center in Burgas, Bulgaria.

Target Audience: The academy is aimed at young professionals, researchers, and experts from public administration in the Black Sea region. Its goal is to exchange knowledge on all aspects of planning and developing energy infrastructure and innovations in marine spaces. Traditionally, the academy's trainers are renowned researchers and practitioners from the UK, Belgium, Denmark, as well as lecturers from the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration.

Topics covered this year include:

  • Current state of offshore renewable energy sources in Europe and the Black Sea region;
  • Technological advancements in offshore wind energy, synergies with floating solar systems at sea, zero-carbon hydrogen, and ammonia fuels;
  • Minimizing the environmental footprint and applying an ecosystem approach to developing sustainable marine infrastructure;
  • Financial and regulatory aspects of offshore wind energy.
