On May 11, 2026, students from the Master’s program “Responsible and Sustainable Governance” at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” carried out a study visit to Sofia Med AD. The visit was organized with the aim of giving students first-hand insight into the company’s operations, production processes, and best practices in the field of sustainable development.

At the beginning of the visit, specialists from the Human Resources Department introduced the students to the history and activities of the company. During the presentation, the main stages of the company’s development, its position on the market, and its role as a significant employer were discussed.

The manager of the wastewater treatment plant presented the technological facilities and their importance for both the production process and environmental protection. Particular emphasis was placed on initiatives and best practices related to the sustainable management of resources, reducing environmental impact, and implementing environmentally responsible solutions in the company’s day-to-day operations.

Mr. Vasil Harizanov, Sustainable Development Manager, also took part in the presentation and introduced the students to the company’s policies and strategies in the areas of sustainable development, corporate social responsibility, and environmental initiatives. He emphasized the importance of sustainable practices for the development of modern business and the need to integrate environmental and social aspects into managerial decision-making.

Following the presentation session, the students had the opportunity to tour the production facilities and gain a closer understanding of the organization of daily operations, the technologies used, and the measures for safety and environmental protection. The visit generated significant interest among the master’s students and provided an opportunity for discussions on topics related to industrial production, sustainable development, and the relationship between business and education. It contributed to enriching the students’ practical knowledge and building a clearer understanding of the real business environment and the challenges facing modern industry.
