The session was opened and chaired by the CSR Director Professor Simeon Evstatiev from the Department of Arabic and Semitic Studies at Sofia University

The session was attended by scholars from Sofia University (Faculty of Classical and Modern Philology, Faculty of History, Faculty of Philosophy, Faculty of Slavic Studies), the American University in Bulgaria, the Institute for Historical Studies, and the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Studies with Ethnographic Museum at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, fellows at CAS, as well as international scholars. Several colleagues, including CAS Director Professor Diana Mishkova, attended the session online.

Assoc. Prof. Dr Ilia Iliev, Chair of the Department of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology of Sofia University, works in the fields of the history of ethnology in Bulgaria (he has published the monograph "Community Builders and Professional Strangers: Dialogues between Bulgarian and Foreign Anthropologists"), the social history of communism, and everyday life in post-socialist Bulgaria. Currently, he is working on the social history of aging in Bulgaria.
