On October 16, 2026, the autumn 11th edition of the ESG Academy will begin – the leading certification programme in sustainable management, delivered by the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” in partnership with the Bulgarian Sustainability Specialists Association (SSA).

In a world where sustainability is becoming a key competitive advantage, ESG knowledge is emerging as one of the most sought-after professional competencies. In addition, European legislation has undergone a major overhaul, and new policies on carbon neutrality, zero-waste production, corporate reporting and social compliance across the value chain are now an essential part of the requirements that Bulgarian companies must meet if they operate, or intend to operate, in international markets.

That is why the ESG Academy combines academic expertise with practical experience, providing up-to-date knowledge, real-world business cases and practical tools that participants can immediately apply in their professional practice.

The programme is designed for representatives of the business community, the financial sector, national and local government, consultants, auditors, sustainability professionals, non-governmental organisations, as well as all professionals seeking to develop their expertise in ESG and sustainable development.

The training programme includes 10 specialised modules:

  • October 23 – Business and Human Rights – Olya Peneva
  • October 26 – The Social Pillar of Sustainability – Zornitsa Rusinova
  • November 6 – Climate and ESG Risk Management – Assoc. Prof. Dr. Radostin Vazov
  • November 13 – Auditing – Milka Damyanova and Marina Bogdanova
  • November 20 – ESG Reporting and Requirements for Reported Data – Assoc. Prof. Dr. Marina Stefanova
  • November 27 – Climate Adaptation and Resilience – Apostol Dyankov
  • December 4 – Energy and Climate Policy – Assoc. Prof. Dr. Atanas Georgiev
  • December 11 – The Environmental Pillar of Sustainability: Green and Circular Economy – Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eng. Vesela Petrova
  • December 18 – Sustainable Finance – Assoc. Prof. Dr. Marcellin Yovogan

The training has a strong practical focus and explores the latest European policies, regulatory requirements and best practices in sustainable management. The lecturers are among Bulgaria’s leading experts and practitioners, working on a daily basis to implement ESG principles across businesses, the public sector and financial institutions.

Upon successful completion of the programme, participants will receive a certificate confirming the knowledge and competencies they have acquired.
