Bulgarian Energy Holding EAD and Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" signed a cooperation agreement in order to implement joint initiatives for accelerated development of innovation potential in the Bulgarian energy sector. The framework agreement was signed by the Rector of Sofia University Prof. Anastas Gerdjikov and the Executive Director of BEH EAD Valentin Nikolov. The meeting was also attended by the acting Deputy Minister of Energy Miroslav Damyanov, the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration Assoc. The two sides agreed to carry out joint activities in innovation, applied research and education in the fields of nuclear energy, nuclear technology, nuclear physics and chemistry, geology and natural resources research, the introduction of innovative energy technologies, artificial intelligence, technological entrepreneurship and information innovation. technologies, energy markets and services and others.

The agreement envisages BEH EAD together with the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, the Faculty of Geology and the Faculty of Physics of Alma Mater to establish working groups on innovative projects to ensure a smooth energy transition to clean and low carbon energy, as well as achieving competitiveness and high added value in the energy sector. It is also planned with joint efforts to develop project proposals to funding institutions and organizations providing resources for the implementation of innovative energy projects.

BEH EAD and Sofia University will cooperate for the development of expert and research experience and capacity, as well as for the technological and scientific-experimental base and laboratory infrastructure of both the holding and the university. BEH EAD will provide student internships and internships with on-site visits to the sites of the holding group, providing support for career guidance and motivation for students and doctoral students, creation of mentoring programs and joint master's and doctoral programs.
