The Programme offers wide opportunities for more flexible specialization in:

  • Language and Communication
  • Language and Culture
  • Applied Linguistics
  • Linguistics in 21st century.

The Programme comprises:

1. Compulsory core courses for all modules;

2. Compulsory specialized courses for individual modules;

3. A pool of elective courses for all modules. Students will be also able to take specialized courses from other modules as electives.

 

The MA programme aims to present a wide range of interdisciplinary issues related to English language use and development, such as pragmatics, sociolinguistics, language contacts, cognitive linguistics, methodology of linguistic research, language and the media, psycholinguistics, linguistic anthropology, intercultural communication, etc. A connection will be made with the social and cultural aspects of native speakers of English.

Graduates of the MA programme will be able to pursue careers as:

– teachers in general secondary schools and language schools;

– language teachers in colleges and higher schools;

– experts and consultants in linguistics and contrastive linguistics;

– experts and consultants in foreign language teaching and communications;

– journalists working on UK and US issues;

– translators from and into English;

– experts in advertising;

– experts and consultants in national and foreign companies;

– experts in language use and communication.
