Sofia University Wins the 24 Hours Daily Prize of the Best High Academic Institution in the Country

At a ceremony, organized by the 24 Hours Daily the prizes of the top high academic institutions, based on the Rating System in this country, were awarded for the third time.

Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” is the traditional leader in the Rating System. The top Bulgarian university, which in 2018 marked its 130th anniversary, takes the first place in 17 professional venues of teaching.

The Minister of Education and Science, Mr Krasimir Vulchev, and the Chairperson of the Representation of the European Commission to this country, Mr Ognyan Zlatev, presented the prize to the Rector of Sofia University, Professor Anastas Gerdzhikov..

Receiving the prize, Professor Anastas Gerdzhikov pointed out that for him it was an honour to receive the insignia marking the fact that Sofia University came first in the majority of professional venues in this country and added that that came as a result of high scientific achievements. He remarked that the situation was similar to some other universities which also scored remarkable growth of scientific publications and citations.

The Rector of Sofia University expressed his gratitude to the host of the event, the 24 Hours Daily, the Open Society Foundation, and the Ministry of Education and Science for the successful implementation of the Rating System of the High Academic Institutions Project in this country over the past eight years.
