International Webinar "The Philologist in Digital Format"

On February 22, 2021 within the bilateral agreement between Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski ”, (Bulgaria) and the Kazakh National Pedagogical University“ Abay ”, (Kazakhstan), the Faculty of Classical and Modern Philology, the Scientific-Educational and Cultural Center al-Farabi of the Sofia University“ St. Kliment Ohridski ”and the Institute of Philology and Polylingual Education of the Kazakh National Pedagogical University“ Abay ”held an international webinar on the topic:“ The Philologist in Digital Format ”.

The forum was opened with a welcoming speech by the Vice Rector for Research and Informatization of the Kazakh National Pedagogical University "Abay", Prof. Sayabek Sakhiev.

The moderators of the online seminar were Bayan Sapargalieva, PhD and Violeta Dobichina, Director of the Scientific-Educational and Cultural Center al-Farabi.

Scientific reports were presented by Prof. Madeleine Danova, Sofia University, on "Digitalization of Education: Modern Methods of Teaching Foreign Languages" and Prof. Zabira Eshimbetova, Kazakh National Pedagogical University "Abai" on "Digital Technologies in Philology". Both reports aroused great interest among the participants and became a basis for discussing current issues of lifelong learning of young people to be able to meet the requirements of the 21st century.

The international webinar was attended by about 100 participants - professors, students, PhD students, and specially invited guests from universities in Tajikistan - Tajik State University, Uzbekistan - Bukhara State University, Kyrgyzstan - Kyrgyz National University, Issyk-Kul State University, Ala- TOO International University, Osh State University, Uzgen International College and Kazakhstan - Kazakh National Pedagogical University "Abai". Kazakh National Women's Pedagogical University, Aktobe State University, South Kazakhstan State University, Academy of Civil Aviation.

The international webinar achieved its goal, namely, to create an information and discussion platform for the scientific, theoretical and applied aspects of the methodology of teaching foreign languages ​​and training philologists in the digital age.

The participants and guests agreed that such meetings on such topical issues between European universities and universities in Central Asia are very useful, of mutual interest and stressed the need for their continuation.
