You are a student of literature and are proficient in French, Bulgarian, and another European language? If you wish to build upon your master's degree and continue conduct your own research with a doctorate in Comparative Literary Studies, then the following opportunity may be right for you:

Doctoral students of Comparative Literature at Sofia University may switch to a mode of joint academic advising (co-tutelle) with one of the universities, taking part in the Literatures of United Europe Programme, as long as their doctoral theses satisfy the following criteria:

  • focused on three (or more) European literatures;
  • written in French;
  • thematically in line with the training within the European Doctorate Literatures of United Europe.

The Literatures of United Europe Doctoral Programme is supported by the European Commission (Socrates Programme) and is included in the Advanced Curriculum Development (CDA). The programme aims to provide students with the opportunity to work on their doctoral dissertations in the best possible scientific conditions, within the framework of cooperation between the different European universities involved in the project. The doctoral programme foresees activities and seminars providing specialization in research methods and techniques, in strict connection with the subject of the thesis.

The working language of this doctoral programme is French.
