MATHEMATICS INTRODUCTION COURSE

Major: Business Administration (BA)

Period: First year, a week before the start of first semester

Requirements:

Prerequisites: Admission exam in Mathematics

 

Course Content:

Basic concepts from the set theory and mathematical logic. The concept of number. The principle of mathematical induction. Elements from the combinatorics. Elements from the financial mathematics. Types of interest rates and their calculation. Complex numbers. Polynomials. Rational functions; decomposition as a sum of elementary fractions. Elementary models in economy based on linear algebraic and difference equations of the first order. Basic properties of the real numbers. Number sequences; limits.

Aims of the course:

Introductory Mathematics course is designed to acquaint students of Economics with some basic information needed for the courses Mathematics I and Mathematics II.
