On February 10 and 11, 2022, Utilities Magazine and the Center for Educational Services (CES) at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” conducted an online training on “Energy efficiency - policies, financing and project management”. The course was attended by representatives of financial institutions, energy companies, energy consumers and others.

The training is part of the initiatives related to the master's program "Energy Markets and Services" at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski”.

The course presented lectures and materials to increase the knowledge and skills needed to implement successful energy efficiency projects for end users. The latest policies and requirements for energy efficiency projects were discussed.

Special attention was paid to the topics of how investments in energy efficiency are assessed, whether there is a change in support policies and what risks are considered by financial institutions.

The focus of the training was in particular on household consumers and small and medium-sized enterprises, with an emphasis on the role of building owners and the utility sector.

  • Zoya Vasileva, Managing Partner, Mattig-Levercom Management Partners;
  • Eng. Ivaylo Alexiev, Executive Director, Agency for Sustainable Energy Development (AUER);
  • Svetoslav Benchev, Bulgarian Oil and Gas Association (BPGA);
  • Julian Popov, Chairman of the Board of the European Institute for Building Efficiency.
