Admission, educational goals

 

To qualify for admission to the degree programme candidates must possess an undergraduate degree acquired from a national and/or international accredited third level institution/ level institution which is different from Non-formal education.

 

The selection process is based on application documents review and interview. Applicants are normally expected to hold a good honours degree and to demonstrate strong motivation for joining the program.

 

The programme addresses the needs of the executives in the area of non-formal education to acquire interdisciplinary-based competences in the area of theory and management of education. Its main goal is to educate new generation of educational managers and leaders who possess large views, bright minds and sustainable professional culture and competency allowing them to work in the extremely dynamic, innovative and high tech-based services and activities in the area of no-formal education in Bulgaria and worldwide.

 

 

 

Education (knowledge and skills necessary for successful professional activity; basic theoretical and specialized training):

 

The curriculum integrates 4 types of course: basic (compulsory), specialized (compulsory and elective), facultative (elective) and practical. The compulsory curriculum components cover: (1) the interdisciplinary foundations of non-formal education in the area of sociology, psychology, pedagogy, andragogy, educational management; (2) core theoretical courses in the area of organizational management, instructional design and evaluation, leadership etc. The elective curriculum components embark some basic applied courses oriented toward contemporaneous aspects of non-formal education as an area of innovation and alternative approaches: internalization of non-formal education, entrepreneurship in education, ICT-based learning settings and environments etc. The field practice is organized as a one week professional employment on a real work place.

 

 

 

The programme’s curriculum is oriented toward:

 

  • Introducing students to the theoretical foundations of non-formal education and its effective management nowadays;
  • Developing their professional values and attitudes toward education as an area of intensive innovations for life-long and life-wide learning and sharing of knowledge, information, energy and experience;
  • Empowering students to enlarge their knowledge and competences to analyse, design, plan, implement, manage, evaluate and, spread good models and practices for non-formal education in all sectors – public, business or civic;
  • Supporting students to develop p their positive attitudes, sensibility and readiness for proactively oriented creative thinking and doing.

 

 

 

Professional competences:

 

The program addresses the requirements of the 7th level of the European qualifications framework and corresponds to the class 1 group, subgroup “managers” of the National Occupational Classification.

 

The integrated curriculum leads to the acquisition of integrative knowledge, skills and experience as a solid basis for successful professional work on tasks related to policymaking, planning, organizing, managing people and organizations, identifying and evaluating needs, negotiating, developing, implementing and promoting innovations and projects etc.

 

 

Professional realization:

 

  • Graduates can work as managers and leaders of non-formal educational services and organizations in all areas of non-formal education: out-of-school activities for children, training groups and clubs for all ages, further education, corporative trainings, individual educational support, youth programs, animation etc.
