On 17.05.2023, a knowledge transfer seminar was held under the INNOAIR project, with lead partner Sofia Municipality and financed under the Urban Innovative Actions program. The seminar was attended by representatives of local authorities from Greece, Serbia, Croatia, research organisations, academia, as well as heads of municipal structures and experts from the administrations of Stara Zagora, Haskovo, Vidin, Montana, Blagoevgrad, Gabrovo, Simitli, Ruse, Varna, Burgas, Sliven, Lovech, Asenovgrad, Plovdiv, etc.
The Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of Sofia University took part by presenting the models developed for the needs of the mobile application serving the on demand public transportation, as well as the possibilities for optimization of urban transport routes, by using correlated data on the movement of citizens.
One of the important aspects, according to urban mobility expert Gereon Meyer, is precisely the change in movement patterns, which can play a key role in achieving the goals that Europe sets for itself within the framework of the EU Green Deal.
The project team presented the main steps in the process of introducing an on-demand transport service, including availability, determining the passenger transport tariff and payment methods, as well as the need for regulatory amendments to implement it in practice.
"INNOAIR is a small but extremely important project, because it creates a model for work in the future. Every element of it is new not only for the public transport system, but also for the Bulgarian legislation", emphasised the director of the Transport Directorate of Sofia Municipality - Ivan Nikolov.
