Ph.D. Programmes offered at the Faculty of Economics ans Business Administration:
The PhD programs of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (FEBA) are focused on education and developing the research and teaching potential of doctoral students, while adhering to the traditions and the latest achievements in the field of economic and management theory, financial and accounting analysis, and the analysis of economic data.
The PhD programs prepare highly qualified researchers with solid theoretical and practical training to be able to use out both analytical and managerial functions in the academic sphere, business, the financial sector, state government and public administration, and in the non-governmental sector.
The education in the PhD programs of FEBA provides an opportunity to upgrade and enrich fundamental and applied knowledge and competences with interdisciplinary character and with the help of modern software products and STEM orientation.
The learning process is organized and combined with the requirements of individual independent work. The individual plan of each doctoral student provides consist of doctoral exams in the specialized disciplines, which are in line with both the theoretical and methodological preparation of the PhD student from the previous educational degrees, as well as with the dissertation subject which must be developed. The scientific supervisors are prominent and leading specialists with high academic achievements in the field they are working in.

Professional Field 3.7 Administration and Management
Business Administration (in Bulgarian and Foreign Language)
Doctoral program “Business Administration” provides scientific competence to doctoral students who acquire adequate knowledge about most recent scientific contributions in the field of business administration as well as about contemporary research methods. The program prepares highly qualified researchers with solid theoretical and practical training for performing both analytical and managerial functions for the needs of business practice, non-government sector, state governance, higher education and research institutions.

1. Economics and Economic Policy (in Bulgarian and Foreign Language)
Doctoral program "Economics and Economic Policy" aims at training and developing the research and teaching potential of doctoral students, adhering to the traditions and the latest achievements in the field of economic theory, applied economic analysis and modeling of economic policy.
2. Applied Econometrics and Economic Modelling (in Bulgarian and Foreign Language)
Doctoral programme “Applied Econometrics and Economic Modelling “aims at developing the research and teaching potential of PhD students. It utilizes the latest advances of statistics, econometrics and economic modelling and prepare highly qualified researchers having solid theoretical and practical skills for the areas of academia, government, and private businesses.
3. IT in Economics (in Bulgarian and Foreign Language)
Doctoral program "Application of computing technology in the economy" combines the development of systematized theoretical knowledge and skills for their practical application in a wide range of areas, including in academia, government and business
4. Economics and Management (Industry) (in Bulgarian and Foreign Language)
Doctoral program "Economics and Management (Industry)" offers training in one of the most modern areas of the economy, namely service science in various areas of economic activity - energy, public administration, education, tourism. Corresponds to Europeanization framework-level 8, ISCED 97 (level 6)
5. Data Science (in Bulgarian and Foreign Language)
Doctoral program "Analytical research on data” (Data Science) ensures the acquisition of knowledge and competences in the field of economics, finance, statistics and econometrics, with the emphasis being on current quantitative and qualitative methods and methodologies and their application in business and economic life.
6. Finance, Financial Analysis, and Financial Management (in Bulgarian and Foreign Language)
Financial crisis and issues, the effort of businesses to survive and prosper in this turbulent and changing environment, the developing financial technologies, the sustainable finance and investment, the role of financial managers and analysts, etc. need to be permanently questioned. The doctoral program in Finance, Financial Analysis and Financial Management aims at being one of the key players in the questioning process through the development and design of research methods and scientific approach for better and appropriate answers.
7. Accounting, Audit, and Corporate Activities (in Bulgarian and Foreign Language)
As an academic field, accounting has experienced a substantial infusion of new concepts and quantitative methodologies. These developments have aligned it with economics and other domains more closely than ever before. The doctoral programme in Accounting, Audit and Business Analysis is geared towards offering broadly based, interdisciplinary training that develops the student’s skills in conducting both analytical and empirical research. While issues of financial reporting, managerial accounting, auditing, taxation, and business analysis are the ultimate concern, special emphasis is given to applying basic knowledge of economics, decision theory, and statistical inference to accounting issues. Doctoral students gain additional exposure to research through workshops as well as through research assignments and joint projects with faculty. They also have opportunities to develop their teaching portfolio as it is common for doctoral students to also serve as teaching assistants for undergraduate accounting classes.

- Campaign for elective courses in PhD programs for the academic year 2022/2023 will start around November. The campaign for mandatory-elective and optional doctoral courses will be held at the Faculty of Economics. The courses are offered by the Department of Business Administration and may be chosen by doctoral students from the following doctoral programs:
- Economics and Management (Industry)
- Economics and Economic Policy (in Bulgarian and English)
- Business Administration
- Application of computing technology in the economy
- Data Science

- The Faculty of Economics and Business Administration organizes workshops with access and search for the necessary publications in the basic electronic libraries (JStor, EBSCO, Emerald). During the workshops, the rights of use, ethical and legal responsibility related to intellectual property are explained. These seminars also provide initial training in working with the main statistical packages for data processing (SPSS, E-Views, ESRI, Mat-Lab). Since May 2006, the FEBA has been organizing Doctoral Schools, within which qualified teachers from the faculty and abroad present the latest results in their scientific field, the modern tools for research in economics, finance, accounting, data analysis and social sciences. PhD students have the opportunity to present the results of their work to their colleagues and to seek advice and evaluation from the professors.
